Hillcrest in History

"Civic Group Formed
The big night came on March 11, 1902.  On that occassion, the residents organized the Hillcrest Improvement Association at a meeting held in the community school-house.

"Silas W. Drake, land developer, who had recently purchased a large tract in the section, was the leading speaker.  In commenting on his address, the Trenton Times of the following day said: 'Mr. Drake spoke enthusiastically about the future of Hillcrest and promised to make it one of the finest residential sections of Mercer County in less than a year.'"
